Bb. Pilipinas already exist before I was born. It has established its credibility since its conception. But as the time passed by, people's perception of beauty changed so with Bb. Pilipinas. The pageant was used to be a battle of both beauty and brains but over this past few years, especially this year, its credibility was been questioned.
I think the most important part of such pageants is the "Question and Answer" portion. I believe that there should be more to the beauty than the captivating physical appearance. And in the Q&A portion, contestants have the chance to prove to the audiences that they are beyond just physical beauty and that they have the wits which will make them the deserving winners.
But this year's pageant was a comedy show. The coronation night held at Araneta Coliseum was flooded of controversies. And the judges' decision was even questioned. I have nothing against the contestants, but as a citizen of this country I would have want someone to represent my country to have both the beauty and brains. I don't want to be perceived a dumb-ass who cannot even give a sensible answer to a simple question.
Now it was over and winners were crowned, even if some of them are not wanted by the people, I just hope that they can pull it off when they represent this country. And word of advise, be true to yourself. If you think you would only embarrass yourself and this country, have an interpreter like other country would.
So girls make this country proud!
